Why the range is wide
Two houses on the same street, with the same number of windows, can land a long way apart. The range above already accounts for the material, the frames and the upgrades you picked. These are what move it after that, and they are the reasons we measure before quoting.
The ranges assume ordinary openings. A bay, a bow, an arched head, an eight-foot entryway, or a wall of dormers sits outside them, because the material and the labour both change at once.
You answered for the frames and walls you can see. Soft wood at a sill, or sheathing that has taken water behind the siding, only shows itself once the trim comes off. That is the single biggest reason we measure before quoting.
The setup, the protection and the haul-away happen once whether the crew hangs three windows or thirteen. Doing a whole elevation carries that cost more efficiently than three separate visits.
Vinyl is not one product and neither is fiberglass. Hardware, glass package, panel profile and factory finish all vary inside a material, and they are far easier to judge with the real thing in front of you at the showroom.
