Pella's top contractor tier. It is earned, not bought: crews are factory-trained and certified directly by Pella, and the installation quality is audited. It is also why the product warranty and our 15-year labor warranty sit together with no gap between them. In our own words on our story: Adkins & Sons is Michigan's oldest Pella Certified Installer. Certifications lapse when the work slips. Holding one since before most of our competitors existed says more than any plaque.

Ask to See Both

License
and Insurance

A contractor who is set up properly can answer both without leaving the kitchen table.

Are you a licensed contractor? Yes. Adkins & Sons is a licensed Michigan contractor. A homeowner should be able to look that up rather than take it on trust, so the details belong on paper.

Are you insured, and for how much? Both halves of that question count, and the second one more than the first. Ask any bidder for a certificate of insurance, and read the limits printed on it.

License

Michigan Residential Builder license, Bureau of Construction Codes: Adkins & Sons Inc., company license No. 2102075050, qualifying officer Kyle Wesley Adkins (individual builder license No. 2101065511). Look it up on the State of Michigan's licensing site before you sign with anyone.

Insurance

Insured through Hastings Mutual Insurance Company: commercial general liability, automobile, umbrella, and workers' compensation coverage. A current certificate of insurance, with the limits printed on it, is available on request.

Questions to Ask
Any Contractor

A contractor who is set up properly can answer all of them without leaving the kitchen table. Here are ours.

Who actually does the work?

Our own employees, on our payroll, factory-trained and certified directly by Pella. Never subcontractors. That matters here because a subcontracted crew's insurance is not necessarily the company's insurance.

Who pulls the permit?

Many of the cities we work in require a permit before window, door, or siding work starts. Ask any bidder who is pulling it and when. It is a fair question, and the answer should not take them a phone call to find out.

Who stands behind the work afterward?

We do, in writing: a 15-year labor warranty on the installation, registered with you at the final walkthrough, on top of the manufacturer's own product warranty. One company to call.
