Local Knowledge
River Rouge has water on two sides and housing that mostly predates 1950. Both of those change what a replacement window has to do here.
River Rouge counted 20,549 people in 1950 and 7,224 at the 2020 census. The houses came from that earlier city, so the stock here is mostly pre-war and early post-war, and the original windows were wood sash with separate storms.
The settlement incorporated as a village in 1899 inside Ecorse Township. When Detroit began looking at annexing township land, the village incorporated as a city on April 3, 1922, and kept its own boundaries.
The Rouge River forms the northern boundary with Detroit and the Detroit River forms the eastern one, which is also the border with Canada. Wind and damp come off open water on two sides, and that is hard on old glazing putty and on wood sash that has been painted a dozen times.
The Great Lakes Engineering Works yard in River Rouge launched the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1958. The yards and the mills are the reason the housing went up when it did, and they are why so much of it is worker housing built close together on narrow lots.

Sometimes, and we will tell you when they can. Press the wood near the sill first. If it gives, water has been getting in for a while and it is working on the frame behind the sash, and at that point a replacement unit set into a repaired opening lasts longer than another round of repairs.

Our workmanship: the frame set plumb and square, the sealing, and the finished trim. It sits on top of the manufacturer's own warranty on the product, and we register it with you at the final walkthrough before the crew leaves.
